Talitha Unknown Banks

Mother of Lovina Banks who married Cornelius "Neil" Stringer and Talitha Banks who married  Zacheria Stringer ( Zacheria was first m. to Martha Cooper in Mobile, Alabama and is my ancestor as well as Talitha through her daughters marriage to Corneilus Stringer).  It is said Talitha survived the Trail of Tear's, and was one of the few, surviving women of that tragic event in American history.  Enumerated 1790 "head of household" in Abbeyville, Virginia which was later Abbeyville, South Carolina...many years later she is ennumerated living with Zacharia Stringer (her son-in-law) in Texas, both are enumerated very elderly.    

It is also intersting that Doll Stringer is listed living near Talitha Banks in Abbeyville, Va. 1790, she also being listed as "head of household".  Doll Stringer had quite a reputation in that area, and on many occassions was summonds to court for neglecting to registering her illigetimate children.  She also "earned" the name "Doll"..see above link for more details on Doll Stringer.

John married Rachel Caroline Parker, daughter of Wilson Ashley Parker and Mary A. Cravey, on 15 Dec 1878. Rachel was born on 9 Mar 1858 in Moscow, TX, died on 10 Oct 1930 in Polk Co., TX at age 72, and was buried in Ryans Chapel Cem., Angelina Co., TX. They had 13 children: Lula, Claude, Luther, Ashley Cornelius, Ola, Doc Willis, Ben Ellis, John Clinton, Eveline "Evie" A., Fred, Emma, Zelma Zalard, and Claude Mckinley.

Carrie was born March 9, 1858 and died 10 Oct 1930 - Polk Co., TX she is buried with John Samuel Stringer at Ryans Chapel Cem., Angelina Co., TX.  Carrie was the daughter of Wilson Ashley Parker (1834-1862) and Mary A. Cravey (1848-1903).  Carrie married John Samuel Stringer (8 Dec 1857 - 22 Mar 1937) on 15 Dec 1878.

Ashley Cornelius Stringer, son of John Samuel Stringer and Rachel Caroline Parker, was born on 4 Oct 1876 in Cross Roads, Polk, Texas, died on 13 Nov 1949 at age 73, and was buried in Canton, Polk, Texas.

Ashley married Coralee Harrington. Coralee was born on 25 Jun 1883, died on 13 Aug 1964 at age 81, and was buried in cross Road Cemetery, Leggett, Texas. They had ten children: Doyle "Bulldog," Bernice, Devota, Juanita, Doris, Ruby, Eugene, Henry Taylor "Chicken," August Dow "Slick," and Byron B. "Spot". 

    


Doc Willis Stringer, son of John Samuel Stringer and "Carrie" Parker, was born on 8 Aug 1884 in Polk Co., TX., died on 30 Nov 1969 in Angelina Co., TX at age 85, and was buried in Old Union Cem., Angelina Co., TX.

Doc married Corene "Rosie" Stephens, daughter of William Washington Stephens and Laura Jane Allred, on 6 Feb 1906 in Angelina Co., TX. Corene was born on 4 Sep 1887 in Pevey Switch, Angelina Co., TX., died on 31 Jan 1927 in Angelina Co., TX at age 39, and was buried in Old Union Cem., Angelina Co., TX. They had nine children: William Earl, Deward, Brink, Leonard,  Arvle Woodrow, Willis Crusoe, Infant Son, Infant Son, and Illa Ruth.

  Leonard Stringer was born on 8 Dec 1914 in Lufkin, Angelina Co., TX, died in Nov 1999 in Lufkin, Angelina Co., TX at age 84, and was buried in Garden Of Memories, Lufkin, Angelina, Texas.
Leonard married Robbie Looney Nash, daughter of Guide Emanuel Nash and Missouri Lacey Goins, on 26 Dec 1936 in Lufkin, Angelina Co., TX. Robbie was born on 30 Aug 1918 in Trinity Co., TX. They had four children: Carl Wayne, Jimmy Neil, Gloria Ann, and Bobby Lynn.

Wilson Ashley Parker, son of Samuel Parker and Rachel Frances Mason, was born on 3 Apr 1834 in Greenville, Coosa Co., Alabama, died in 1862 in Lott, Texas at age 28, and was buried in Oakwood Cem., Tyler, Texas.



Wilson married Mary A. Cravey, daughter of Amos P Cravey and Elizabeth "Eliza" Peavy, on 3 May 1855 in Greenville, AL. Mary was born on 27 Sep 1848 in Greenville, Alabama, died on 23 Dec 1903 at age 55, and was buried in Old Union Cem., Angelina Co., TX. They had four children: Eason Mckinney, Rachel Caroline, James Malachi, and Amos Beauregard.

Samuel Parker 1 was born on 1 Feb 1807 in Whitfield, Dalton Co., GA, the son of Samuel Parker and Mary Polly Parker Parker.  Samueal died on 13 Mar 1890 in Red Level, Covington Co., AL at age 83, and was buried in Fairmont Cem., Red Level, Covington Co., Alab.. 

Samuel married Rachel Frances Mason in 1832. Rachel was born about 1812 in Georgia, died about 1885 in Red Level, Covington Co., AL about age 73, and was buried in Fairmont Cem., Red Level, Covington Co., Alab.. They had 13 children: Wilson Ashley, Noah Buchanan, Peter Logan, Willie "Winnie" C, Miles Sessions, Unidentified Female, Philip Travis, Samuel J., Thomas, James H., Mary Jane (Polly), Rachel (Frances) , and Elizbeth (Lizzie) .

 

 

Samuel Parker 1 was born on 7 Jun 1765 in Worchester Co., MD, died on 23 May 1840 in Handcock Co., Al at age 74, and was buried in Fairmont Co., Red Level, Ala.

Samuel married Mary Or Polly Parker , daughter of John Parker and Sarah Gordy , in 1792 in Hancock Co., GA. Mary was born on 20 Aug 1774 in Lowes, Sussex Co., Del., died on 12 Dec 1861 in Red Level, Covington, Alabama at age 87, and was buried in Fairmont Cem., Red Level, Covington Co., Alab.. They had 15 children: George, John, Elisha, Elizabeth, Peter, (No Given Name), Noah, (No Given Name), Samuel, Sarah, (No Given Name), Benjamin William, Jane, Martha Jane , and (No Given Name) .

 

 

Amos Beauregard Parker was born on 23 Aug 1861 in Moscow, Polk Co., TX and died on 22 Apr 1929 in Lufkin, Angelina Co., TX at age 67.  Amos married on 24 Jun 1884 in Polk Co., TX. to Lenard Elizabeth Coker Jan 1, 1849 and died Feb. 25, 1921.

 

 

Philip Travis Parker was born on 4 Jul 1841 in Alabama and died on 12 Jul 1920 at age 79.

Miles Sessions Parker was born on 5 Apr 1839 in Butler Co., AL, died on 29 Nov 1919 in Polk Co., TX at age 80, and was buried on 30 Nov 1919 in Center Grove Cem., Polk Co., TX.
